Cheshvan Meditation Challenge
Ten Minutes a Day Can Change Your Relationship with Your Life
What is Cheshvan?
Cheshvan is the name of the month on the Hebrew (Jewish) calendar, and is the Hebrew month that falls immediately after the High Holidays and before Hanukkah.
Click here to learn more about the Jewish calendar.
Because the Jewish calendar is lunar, the exact dates of Cheshvan change from year to year, although it always in the autumn. This year (2009) Cheshvan begins October 18 and ends November 17.
Why a Meditation Challenge in Cheshvan?
Cheshvan has no special annual holidays, unlike most months on the Jewish calendar, so it is an ideal time for turning inward. After the busyness of the Days of Awe, the start of the new school year and other beginnings, and before the rush of the winter holidays, Cheshvan is a resting time from outward efforts and an invitation to inwardness.
What is the Challenge?
The CMC involves a one month commitment to
- Daily sitting meditation (10 minutes)
- Reviewing brief, twice-weekly email lessons with reflective questions to ponder and journal.
- Posting a once weekly response to the Cheshvan Meditation Challenge e-list, where you can also read other students’ responses
What does Or Tzafon provide for my $18?
