Monday August 9, 20th Annual Hiroshima Candle Float on Boardman River, 8:30 pm
Traverse City.

We gather at the Farmers Market in a circle about 8:30 for remebrances and tributes to all the victims of all wars. Then we proceed to the river set floats that bear a brown paper bag weighted with sand and holdig a lit candle. We follow the floats in silencefor a number of blocks through downtown Traverse City,MI

Contemplative Living in a Crazy World
Explore contemplative living through the lens of several world traditions with inter-religious leader Chava Bahle. Rabbi Bahle recently spent time at a Cistercian monastery where she studied the contemplative path with holy masters. Through religious traditions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Sufism learn the basic tools of contemplation that have survived centuries and still bring meaning and sanity to life in the 21st century.

There are many reasons to write—to gain personal insight, collect pieces of your story, process your way through difficult times, establish a meaningful practice, and reflect on the world around you. Get started (or restarted) as you learn the basics of journal keeping. Master story teller, Chava Bahle, guides your discovery of mining your experiences to develop “tellable” tales in written or spoken form. You’ll explore journal styles and work with prompts to get you started. Bring a notebook and writing tool.

Rabbi Chava Bahle will offer a unique Rosh HaShanah program: a day of meditative reflection for people of all faiths. Taking a fresh approach to the ancient themes of Rosh HaShanah, the retreat will offer reflection and instruction on interspirituality and the contemplative path shared by Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and other faiths. The retreat will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2009, from 10 AM to 4 PM near Suttons Bay.

Kabbalah: The Way of the Jewish Mystics
Delve deeply into the ideas that shape one of the great treasures of human spiritual expression.
